The transportation strike in Izmir is continuing on its 3rd day. Garbage is piling up, and transportation has come to a halt!

The strike, which began due to the breakdown of collective bargaining negotiations between the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and the General-İş Union, has significantly affected transportation services in the city. Almost all buses are not operating, leading to long queues at bus stops.

Due to the strike, garbage has started to accumulate in the Konak district. Mayor Cemil Tugay has invited union representatives to the negotiation table to reach an agreement.

Tugay stated that they are trying to show every kind of selfless approach to prevent the prolongation of the hardships faced by the people of Izmir, saying, "We will eliminate the confusion created over additional payments. We will discuss the net salary to be paid to everyone every month."

The strike in Izmir has caused significant disruptions in transportation, leading to a halt in many municipal services. Citizens are opting for alternatives like the metro and tram for public transportation.
