Recently, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's investigation into boycott calls has reignited discussions on freedom of expression.

Prof. Dr. Yaman Akdeniz from Bilgi University reminded us of the Constitutional Court's (AYM) decision that considers boycott calls as freedom of expression. Akdeniz stated, "Calling for a boycott is not a crime, it is freedom of expression."

Ozan Güven's call for a boycott against Turkcell, which supported the Ensar Foundation's campaign, was evaluated by the AYM as freedom of expression. This decision resulted in a ruling for 18,000 lira in moral compensation for Güven.

Akdeniz criticized the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's investigation into boycott calls, stating, "A call for boycott is freedom of expression." This situation is of great importance for the rule of law and the protection of individual rights.
