The Social Security Institution (SGK) has launched a strict oversight process against fraudulent divorces. The aim of these inspections is to identify individuals who divorced to receive orphan pensions but continue to live with their ex-spouses.

In 2024, 3,002 inspections were conducted, revealing that 2,404 individuals received payments through fraudulent divorces. Legal actions have been initiated against these individuals.

SGK has canceled the insurance of over 94,000 individuals and imposed fines totaling 2 billion lira in the fight against informal employment.

Identifying those who divorce to receive orphan pensions is crucial for protecting the social security system. Increasing inspections is necessary to prevent such irregularities.

As a result of these inspections, payments made to individuals who received them through fraudulent divorces will be reclaimed with interest. This is a critical step for the sustainability of the social security system.
