Greece has signed an important natural gas agreement with the US. This agreement could change the energy dynamics in the Aegean Sea and the Balkans.

According to officials, LNG supply will be provided by a joint venture that includes the US-based Venture Global. This development has the potential to enhance regional energy security.

Venture Global's Senior Vice President Shaylyn Hynes stated that the supply will be sourced from the export facility being constructed in Louisiana. This situation will contribute to Greece's energy independence.

Additionally, Greece is reported to be going to an international tender for hydrocarbon exploration. This step could escalate tensions with Turkey, as Greece plans to conduct hydrocarbon exploration off the Mora Peninsula and Crete.
