Portugal has decided to recognize the State of Palestine!

The Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this historic step ahead of the United Nations General Assembly. The official recognition statement will be made on Sunday, September 21.

Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel shared his country's evaluations regarding the recognition during his visit to the UK this week. This step increases the number of Western countries recognizing Palestine.

Rangel emphasized that "the recognition of the State of Palestine is a fundamental principle of Portugal's foreign policy." This decision aims to contribute to the peace process in the Middle East.
