Germany establishes a National Security Council.

Germany is taking a new step to strengthen its security policies. A National Security Council is being established!

According to the German news agency dpa, preparations have begun among the relevant ministries for this new structure. The newly established Council aims to develop comprehensive policies in areas such as internal and external security threats, cyber security, and economic security.

The council will be chaired by Prime Minister Friedrich Merz, with the ministers of defense, interior, and finance also participating. Representatives from NATO and the European Union may be invited to meetings as needed.

This new structure will convene particularly during international crises such as Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Additionally, situations involving cyber attacks on critical infrastructure will also be on the agenda.
