The President of the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), Ebubekir Şahin, reacted strongly to TELE1's broadcast that included the subtitle 'What is the difference between RTE and Netanyahu?'.

Şahin stated that this expression is a disrespect towards the highest office of the state and that the accountability will be demanded with the heaviest penalties.

TELE1 apologized, stating that the subtitle was written by mistake. However, RTÜK emphasized that this situation cannot be disguised under the guise of press freedom.

Şahin expressed that President Erdoğan is a leader who raises the strongest voice against the oppression in Gaza and supports the Palestinian cause.

This incident was regarded as an open attack on the Republic of Turkey. RTÜK announced that it would not allow such initiatives.
