All Stages of Baby Pigeon
Pigeon chicks, which hatch in 17 days, are covered with downy feathers and eyes closed for the first week. The density and length of the pile hairs differ according to races and colors. In the first days, the offspring are fed with a protein-rich nutrient called "pigeon milk" or "crop milk" (colloquially yeast) secreted from the crops of the parents. After the first week, this milk gradually leaves its place to the grain food soaked in the mother and father's crop. Especially during this period, supplementing the feed with mixed budgerigar feed has a positive contribution to the development of the offspring. During the fry period, the broodstock should be fed twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. Consideration should be given to extending the feeding period compared to the period when there are no babies. Because parent birds should be able to feed their young and then themselves adequately. If the feeding period is short, the feed given to the offspring decreases after a while, and the development of the offspring slows down. If possible, a very small amount of feeding should be done at noon on very hot days, and water should be given to the pups along with the feed. Although it is not a problem in the first days that the broodstock are constantly fed in front of the broodstock, after a while, the offspring do not want food from their parents because they are full. If the desire to be fed by the offspring is not strong enough, after a while, the desire of the parents to feed also decreases. In order to keep the urge to take care of the puppies, it should be ensured that the puppies' desire to feed should always remain strong by feeding twice
