The High Election Board (YSK) has decided to convene an extraordinary meeting for the CHP Istanbul Extraordinary Congress. This meeting will take place upon the request of the Sarıyer District Election Board.

Previously, the Istanbul 45th Civil Court had ordered the suspension of the congress. However, the congress had already commenced, prompting YSK to hold this extraordinary meeting.

In the Istanbul congress held on October 8, 2023, Özgür Çelik was elected as president. However, allegations of fraud in the voting process emerged.

The court had ruled to suspend the ongoing congress process. However, YSK rejected the appeal against the dismissal of CHP's Istanbul provincial administration.

CHP applied to the Sarıyer 1st District Election Board to hold an extraordinary congress. YSK unanimously decided on September 9 that the congress could proceed.

The Istanbul 45th Civil Court stated that YSK's decision was contrary to the precautionary ruling and requested the suspension of the congress. However, YSK announced that a congress that has already started cannot be halted.
