CHP Crisis in Bayrampaşa Municipality: Vice President Election

The vice president election was held in Bayrampaşa Municipality. The number of CHP members dropped to 18, affecting the election results.
Following the arrest of Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu, the municipal council convened to elect a vice president. The decrease in CHP's member count increased the numbers for AK Party and MHP.

The Istanbul Governorship announced that the council would meet on September 21, 2025, for the vice president election following Mutlu's arrest. Before the election, CHP had 18 members while AK Party and MHP had 19 members combined.
Tensions and discussions during the election process drew attention in the council meeting. A fierce competition occurred between the candidates from CHP and the People's Alliance.

Ultimately, CHP candidate İbrahim Kahraman was elected as vice president through a lottery draw. This development is seen as significant for maintaining CHP's political power in Bayrampaşa.
