Yesterday, a historic day unfolded in Istanbul. Over a million people gathered in Maltepe for 'rights-law-justice'. This rally should not be confused with election rallies; it was a rebellion against despotic governance.

The rally was a stand against injustice, oppression, and brutal violence. Ekrem İmamoğlu became the symbol of this great rally. However, the people's resolute response has surpassed even İmamoğlu.

The palace officials, led by Erdoğan, and the affiliated media are trying to tarnish this glorious response from the people. But these efforts are in vain. They need to get their act together.

In the face of such a people's response, there has never been a government that could sustain a resistance based on violence. As Can Ataklı noted, the voice of the people will always be louder.
