Responding to President Erdoğan's criticisms, Özel criticized the attitude towards opposition party mayors, stating, 'Heroism is not attacking with judicial power.'

Özel also commented on Bahçeli's health, saying, 'I pray for Mr. Bahçeli's health, and I cannot say anything else.'

Regarding the presidential candidacy discussions of Mansur Yavaş, Özel stated, 'Those who expect separation from us will be disappointed.'
