Recently, a terror investigation against CHP municipalities has drawn attention. This investigation, initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, covers events that occurred between 2014 and 2016.

According to the investigation, some suspects working in the Ataşehir, Maltepe, Sarıyer, and Şişli municipalities are accused of financing the terrorist organization DHKP/C. A total of 38 people have been detained in this process.

The investigation revealed that the suspects established a needs committee to meet the needs of the so-called institutions within the DHKP/C terrorist organization. It is alleged that financial support was requested from municipalities through this committee.

Among those detained is also a consultant to Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. This situation has the potential to reignite discussions within the CHP.
