Drought and Erosion: Tough Times for Agriculture

Drought is causing major problems in agriculture. Especially sunflower production is seriously affected.
Hüseyin Arabacı, the President of the Edirne Agricultural Chamber, stated that the drought lasting for the last two years has decreased sunflower yields. This year, yields are expected to be significantly below average.
Due to drought, farmers are starting to turn to alternative crops. This situation threatens the sustainability of agricultural production.
Farmers emphasize the need for increased support. Otherwise, it will be difficult to ensure sustainability in agriculture.
Drought and erosion threaten not only agriculture but also food security. Therefore, urgent measures need to be taken.
