Forest Fire in Mugla: 63 Hours of Battle

A forest fire in Mugla's Koycegiz district was brought under control after a 63-hour battle. It was reported that over 3,000 hectares were damaged in the fire.
The fire started on September 19 at around 00:30 in the rural Akköprü neighborhood. The wind that contributed to the fire's growth caused the flames to spread rapidly.

147 water tankers, 123 vehicles, 20 construction machines, and 949 personnel intervened on the ground, while 10 planes and 14 helicopters intervened from the air. The fire was brought under control after 63 hours of intense efforts.
Due to the fire, 230 houses were evacuated, and 612 people were rescued. Additionally, 1,027 small livestock and 515 large livestock were moved to safe areas.

Mugla Governor Idris Akbıyık closely monitored the efforts related to the fire. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the gendarmerie.
