On August 10, 2025, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir. After this earthquake, aftershocks have been ongoing. The latest recorded aftershock was 4.2 in magnitude.

According to AFAD, the 4.2 magnitude earthquake occurred at a depth of 6.7 kilometers on August 18, 2025, at 11:26. Kandilli Observatory recorded this earthquake as 4.4 in magnitude.

The recent earthquakes in Balıkesir have caused concern among the local population. On August 11, 2025, two aftershocks of 4.1 and 4.4 magnitude were recorded. This indicates a series of tremors following the main earthquake.
