The eruption sent ash plumes up to approximately 10,000 meters high, prompting the highest level of alert in the region.

Authorities have declared an 8-kilometer danger zone around the volcano, and there have been no reported casualties from the eruption.

Indonesia is located in the 'Pacific Ring of Fire', which is known for its earthquake and volcanic activity, and has a total of 130 active volcanoes.

As flights were canceled, nearby villages were evacuated. In the past, this volcano caused nine deaths during its eruption in November 2024.
