Volcanic Eruptions and Their Impact on Agriculture

Volcanic eruptions can have significant impacts on agricultural products. The recent frost disaster in Turkey highlighted this issue.
Turkey experienced its largest agricultural frost disaster in 30 years, causing alarm in 36 provinces. Sudden drops in temperature and snowfall led to significant damage to many crops.

The General Directorate of Meteorology warned about heavy snowfall in Eastern Anatolia and the continued risk of frost in Central Anatolia. Producers were urged to be cautious.
In provinces like Konya, Samsun, and Adıyaman, significant damage was reported in hazelnut, cherry, and grape orchards. Farmers are applying to authorities for damage assessment.

The frost disaster could negatively impact Turkey's agricultural production capacity, leading to rising food prices. There is a strong emphasis on the need to support farmers.
The Chamber of Agricultural Engineers highlighted the extent of the disaster. The losses experienced by producers also threaten the national economy.
