Water Crisis in Karaman: Petroleum Hydrocarbons Detected

Petroleum hydrocarbons have been detected in drinking water in Karaman, causing widespread panic among the public.
The Provincial Health Directorate found petroleum hydrocarbons in samples taken from the municipal water supply. As a result, the use of this water for drinking and food hygiene has been temporarily banned.
The people of Karaman have turned to bottled water consumption. Water suppliers reported that they are unable to meet the increased demand but emphasized that they have not raised prices.
Lawyers registered with the Karaman Bar Association filed a complaint against the municipality for negligence. Additionally, an inspection was conducted at the Yeşildere Dam.
The municipality announced that water intake from the dam has been halted and that underground wells are being used to meet the public's water needs. Health measures have been implemented during this process.
