Hurricane and Storm Disasters: Farmers in Distress

Hurricane and storm disasters are making farmers' lives difficult. Recent frost events have led to significant losses in the agricultural sector.
Farmers' cries have reached the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The Adana Chamber of Commerce announced that farmers' damages will be compensated. The coldest winter days in 57 years are being experienced, with temperatures dropping to -7 degrees.

In Mersin, farmers kept vigil for three nights to maintain the temperature in their greenhouses, using stoves. However, the cold weather has also affected fruit trees.

Farmers are requesting that Mersin be declared a disaster area, stating they lack the means to purchase insurance. They emphasize the need for urgent commissions to assess the damage to their crops.
