New Ferry Route in the Marmara Sea Enhances Transportation

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu introduces the new ferry route.

A new era of transportation has begun in the Marmara Sea!

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced the launch of the new train ferry route between Bandırma and Tekirdağ on May 9, 2025. This route is the second train ferry line in Turkey.

The ferry will operate multiple trips daily with a travel time of 4 hours. This route has a capacity of 2.8 million tons of cargo annually, providing a significant alternative for strategic transport.

Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that the new route supports transport along the Middle Corridor. This project creates a significant alternative for both international and domestic transportation.

Uraloğlu noted that the average annual cargo transported via the Marmaray line is around 300,000 tons, while the Bandırma-Tekirdağ line offers 9 times more capacity.

Thanks to this new route, the distance from Manisa to Kapıkule will decrease from 1,119 kilometers to 445 kilometers, providing significant time and cost advantages.
