Retirees Raise Their Voice: We Demand a Living Wage!

Retirees highlighted the decline in their living standards during a press conference in Kartal. The United Retirees Union demands the minimum pension to be set at 35,000 lira.
In the statement, it was emphasized that "Corruption, injustice, rent gangs, and health scandals are rampant in the country. Retirees and workers are burdened with heavy tax loads, making life unbearable."
Retirees stated, "We did not create the crisis, and we do not want to pay the bill for it," criticizing the government's economic policies. In an environment where the hunger threshold is 27,000 lira, the living wage offered to retirees is only 16,881 lira.
The United Retirees Union listed their demands: raising the minimum pension to 35,000 lira, adjusting increases based on the daily inflation rate rather than the official statistics, and eliminating health contribution fees.
Retirees declared, "Enough is enough! We will not remain silent against the oppressive regime of the government; we demand a living wage, not a death wage," affirming their commitment to their demands.
