Former CHP leader and journalist Altan Öymen passed away at the age of 93. His death was met with deep sorrow by many political figures in Turkey.

President Erdoğan expressed his condolences, stating, "I learned with sadness about the passing of Mr. Öymen. I pray for his soul and extend my condolences to his family and the CHP organization."

Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş stated, "We have lost an intellectual who dedicated his life to democracy, press freedom, and the values of the Republic."

CHP member Muharrem İnce said, "I pray for Mr. Öymen, who provided significant services to our country and party; I extend my condolences to his family, friends, and the entire CHP community."

Öymen held various positions in the CHP for 75 years and was one of the important figures of the party. Throughout his life, he fought for democracy and freedom.

The funeral ceremony for Altan Öymen will be held on Monday, July 21, at the Parliament. He will be buried at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.
