Court Decision on Marriage of Dementia Patient

The marriage of dementia patient R.K. has been annulled. His daughter N.K. claimed the marriage was invalid.
R.K. was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia in 2022 and met H.T.K. in 2023. After learning about her father's marriage, his daughter filed for absolute nullity in Urla 3rd Civil Court.
The court ruled based on the Forensic Medicine report that R.K. did not have legal capacity at the time of marriage and declared the marriage null and void.
This decision sets an important legal precedent regarding marriages of dementia patients. A complaint was also filed against the family physician.
