Furkan Karabay is being tried for his posts regarding Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer. He faces three charges.

The prosecutor requested a sentence for Karabay for ‘targeting individuals who have served in counter-terrorism’, ‘insult’, and ‘publicly spreading misleading information’. The hearing has been postponed to October 2.

In court, Karabay criticized the indictment, stating, ‘I am just doing journalism, nothing else’. He expressed that trust in the judiciary has been shaken.

Previously arrested, Karabay was released on November 18. A new investigation has also been initiated against him.

Karabay was also sentenced for insulting the president, receiving a total of two years and one month in prison. However, the court deferred the announcement of the verdict.
