Retirees Face Hardships Before Ramadan

Retirees are voicing their economic struggles as Ramadan approaches. Low pensions and rising food prices make it difficult for many retirees to set their iftar tables.
Retirees living in Diyarbakır express that the fitra amount set by the Directorate of Religious Affairs is insufficient. Erol Peçenek states, "A family of four needs to spend 720 lira daily. This is far above the pension amount,".

Retirees are worried about the price increases of food during Ramadan. Mehmet Aktan says, "Prices will rise during Ramadan, which will put us in a difficult position,".
Kadri Kızmaz expresses, "Our holiday bonus will be 4,000 lira, but this amount is far from covering holiday expenses," voicing his frustration.

Eşref Bozkurt summarizes the situation by saying, "It's very hard to get by during Ramadan. How can we live on a 14,500 lira pension?"
These difficulties faced by retirees have become a widespread issue affecting large segments of society. It is emphasized that the government needs to take more steps in this regard.
