Strong Messages from US Defense Secretary Hegseth Against China

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called for joint deterrence against China's threats in the Indo-Pacific region.
Speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, Hegseth stated that China is preparing to use military force. This situation requires allies in the region to increase their defense spending.
Hegseth emphasized that allies must increase their defense spending under Trump's leadership, stating, "Allies in Asia are facing a much greater threat but are spending much less."
He stated that the US will strengthen its presence in the Indo-Pacific region with the strategy of "peace through strength." In this context, he expressed the need for allies to rapidly update their defense capabilities.
Hegseth pointed out that the threat posed by China is real and could become urgent, stating, "It should be clear to everyone that Beijing is preparing to use military force to change the balance in the Indo-Pacific."
