Frontex Warns Greece Over Migrant Policy

The European Union's border agency Frontex has issued significant warnings to Greece. Greece's treatment of migrants signals a potential violation process to the EU Commission.
Jonas Grimheden, Frontex's Fundamental Rights Officer, stated that Greece's stance puts the agency in a position to either suspend its mission or request the Commission to initiate a violation process. This situation complicates understanding how irregular migrants reach Greece.
Grimheden emphasized that while Frontex guarantees monitoring and transparency, the issue cannot be solved alone. He noted that the Commission could link Greece's progress on human rights to access to EU funds.
If Greece continues to ignore warnings regarding its migration policies, Frontex may withdraw funding for coast guard vessels co-financed with Greece.
