AKP Deputies Move to Increase Traffic Fines

AKP deputies have taken action to increase traffic fines.
Led by Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, the proposed law aims to enhance deterrence against driver errors. Considering the 6,500 fatalities from traffic accidents last year, the fines' minimum and maximum limits are set to rise.
With the new regulation, fines for speeding, running red lights, and improper lane changes will be increased. Once the work is completed, the proposal will be submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
Unauthorized use of flashing lights and sirens is also a significant issue. The law passed on November 21, 2024, increased the fine for such use to 96,000 lira, and driver's licenses are being revoked for 30 days.
These regulations aim to enhance traffic safety and prevent accidents. Deputies will analyze the causes of traffic accidents to shape the regulations accordingly.
