Mansur Yavaş and Ankara's Water Crisis: A Call for Conservation

Ankara's water resources have reached a critical level. Mansur Yavaş calls on citizens to conserve water.
Memduh Aslan Akçay, the General Manager of ASKİ, announced that only 180 days of water remain in the reservoirs. The amount of water reaching the reservoirs has dropped from 500 million cubic meters to 200 million cubic meters.
Akçay stated that 1.3 million cubic meters of water are consumed daily, emphasizing that this situation is unsustainable. He warned against using drinking water for agricultural irrigation.

Akçay announced that a tiered water tariff will be implemented as a short-term solution for water scarcity. Higher tariffs will apply to those who consume more water.
"Hopefully, the rains will come and our reservoirs will start to fill up. But for now, conservation is essential," Akçay urged citizens to be cautious.
Responding to claims of water cuts in Ankara, Akçay stated, "We have enough reserves for 5-6 months. To implement water cuts in August, we would need to consume 110 million cubic meters daily," dismissing the rumors as unfounded.
