Özgür Özel stated, "In these days when Istanbul faces the risk of earthquakes, it is unacceptable for an elected mayor to be in prison." This statement resonated widely in public discourse regarding İmamoğlu's situation.

Özel emphasized that they would stand by İmamoğlu and that they would not leave. "We are here and we are not going anywhere," he declared.

After meeting with İmamoğlu's wife, Dilek İmamoğlu, Özel expressed his commitment to support Ekrem and stated, "We will be by his side."
