Climate change and deforestation threaten the Amazon rainforest. Recent research shows that trees continue to grow, but this situation is not sustainable.

According to a study published in Nature Plants, trees in the Amazon are expanding at an average rate of 3.2% every decade. This growth is explained by the fertilization effect of increasing carbon dioxide levels.

However, this positive effect is only observed in untouched forests. In deforested areas, this growth effect disappears.

The future of the Amazon rainforest will be discussed at the COP30 Climate Summit. Experts emphasize the critical role of these forests in combating climate change.
