Worrying Scene at Burdur Lake: Is It a Natural Process?

Recently observed foaming at Burdur Lake has raised concerns among many. However, experts state that this situation is a natural process.
Prof. Dr. İskender Gülle from Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University stated that such foaming can occur naturally in lakes and seas. He emphasized that these images are normal, especially in winter or early spring.

Prof. Dr. Gülle explained that the foaming is caused by the decomposition of diatoms and algae in cold weather, which reacts with the high alkaline value of the lake water, leading to a saponification process.

He noted that the lake's pH value is quite high, which increases the saponification effect. However, he emphasized that this foaming does not indicate any negative condition for the health of the lake.

In conclusion, the foaming situation at Burdur Lake is accepted as part of nature and is not considered a worrying condition for the health of the lake.
