Rent Issues for Students: Highest in Istanbul

With the new academic year starting, one of the biggest issues for students is housing. Rents are rising rapidly in Istanbul!
According to a study conducted in the 20 cities with the most students in Turkey, the highest rent is in Istanbul, while the lowest is in Kütahya. The average rent in Istanbul is 32,932 lira, while in Kütahya it is 13,552 lira.
The rent increases in the three major cities are noteworthy: 36% in Istanbul, 37% in Ankara, and 27,978 lira in Izmir. The most affordable rents for students can be found in Kütahya and Kayseri.
The need for housing among students is causing rent prices to rise. This situation is increasing demand for KYK and private dormitories, but their capacities are often insufficient.
Finding rental homes is becoming difficult, especially in large cities. In popular areas like Kadıköy and Beşiktaş in Istanbul, rents are exceeding 40,000 lira. Students are opting to rent homes without seeing them.
Kütahya and Kayseri stand out as cities with the most affordable rents for students. In these cities, rents remain at reasonable levels compared to other major cities.
