Cargo volume and container numbers in Chinese ports are on the rise!

According to the Ministry of Transport of China, during the January-April 2025 period, the cargo volume reached 5.75 billion tons, and the number of containers reached 110 million TEU. This shows a significant increase compared to the same period last year.

The trade tensions escalated due to President Donald Trump's increase in customs tariffs and China's response. The amount of cargo transported in April increased by 4.8% compared to the same month last year.

China's exports also increased by 8.1% in April compared to the same period last year. However, this increase highlights the effects of the trade war.

The trade tensions have raised alarms in the global logistics chain. Turkish logistics companies are evaluating this situation as a bottleneck similar to the pandemic period.

The General Manager of Rif Line stated that cancellations of voyages from China to the US are increasing. This situation indicates that Turkey could also be affected by this crisis.

If these trade wars continue, it will become difficult to find containers in Turkey, which will negatively impact the entire sector.
