China's Major Move: Investing 55 Billion Dollars in R&D by 2025

The Chinese government announced it will allocate 55 billion dollars for science and technology in 2025. This underscores the country's commitment to R&D investments.
According to the budget announced by the Ministry of Finance, spending on science and technology is the third largest item after defense and debt interest payments. Key areas include semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and space research.
As the Chinese economy shows signs of slowing down, these large-scale investments are being used as an indirect economic stimulus. In 2024, 97.6% of the allocated budget was utilized.
