Critical Warnings on Climate Change Issued by Experts

Critical warnings have been issued by experts regarding climate change. Gunnar Myhre from the CICERO International Climate Research Center in Norway emphasizes the increasing sensitivity of the climate.

Scientists know that the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is heating the planet. However, how much this warming will be is still uncertain. The reactions of clouds are the biggest source of this uncertainty.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change predicts that doubling the amount of carbon dioxide will lead to a warming of between 2 and 5 degrees compared to pre-industrial levels. The medium estimate is around 3 degrees.

Myhre and his team compared predictions from different climate models with data obtained from satellites. The results show that low-sensitivity models do not align with satellite data.

Johannes Quaas from Leipzig University in Germany noted that these findings emphasize the urgency of political action. Rapid steps must be taken to combat climate change.
