Marine Animal Disasters and Rescue Efforts

A dead baby dolphin washed ashore in Bursa.

Recent marine animal disasters in various beaches of Turkey have brought the issue of marine life conservation back to the forefront.

In Bursa's Gemlik district, a dead baby dolphin washed ashore and is currently being examined by the Gemlik Municipality Health Affairs Directorate. This situation indicates a disruption in the marine ecosystem.

A similar incident occurred in Arnavutköy, where a dead dolphin was spotted by citizens who recorded the moment on their phones. The increase in such incidents may be a result of pollution and human impact on the seas.

In Kocaeli's Dilovası district, a dead dolphin also washed ashore. It was found to have holes in its fin and mouth, and an investigation has been launched regarding the incident.

However, fishermen did not remain indifferent to these negative occurrences. In Sinop, a fishing boat mobilized to rescue dolphins caught in their nets and released them back into the sea.

These incidents highlight the importance of marine conservation and sustainable fishing practices. We all have responsibilities to protect our seas.
