Green Transformation on Rails for Sustainable Transport

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu highlighted the critical role of rail transport in sustainable transport policies.
Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that railways are an indispensable element in achieving Turkey's carbon emission reduction targets. We aim to create an effective and eco-friendly transport system with the 2053 Transport and Logistics Master Plan.
We are working to meet 35% of the energy needs of rail transport from renewable sources. These projects aim to provide both economic and ecological contributions.
Thanks to the pilot project implemented in Izmir, we saved 270 thousand liters of fuel, which translates to an economic contribution of 12 million lira.
Minister Uraloğlu announced that with the implementation of the project in different line sections, they aim to save 12 million liters of fuel and 52 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year.
Uraloğlu stated that energy efficiency and eco-friendly practices in rail transport will continue to increase, with the ultimate goal of implementing these practices in all trains.
