Ümit Özdağ reacted strongly to the cancellation of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma. Özdağ described this situation as an attack on democracy.

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ stated on social media, "The cancellation of İmamoğlu's diploma is the elimination of the right to vote and be elected."

Özdağ criticized the decision of the Istanbul University Rectorship, stating, "This not only undermines academic integrity but also constitutes an assassination of the law."

He emphasized, "What is being canceled is the functioning legal order. Where the law is canceled, there is no state."
