Mansur Yavaş's Statement on Water Cuts and Solutions

Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş made important statements regarding water cuts. He shared information about the reasons for the water cuts and proposed solutions.
Yavaş stated, "Thanks to the savings we made with the gradual tariff and the water we obtained from wells, we have not had to cut water for the people of Ankara until now. However, while the amount of water that came to the dams last year was 233 million cubic meters, this year it has only been 121 million cubic meters."
Yavaş pointed out that the water cuts are due to a pipe burst in the Kesikköprü line. He noted, "This situation is due to a technical malfunction. After all the precautions we took, there was no water cut expected until December, but due to this unexpected malfunction, we had to implement mandatory cuts."
He expressed that if there is no rainfall, they will take other measures. Yavaş apologized for the water cuts and stated that as soon as the repairs are completed, they will continue to supply water without interruption for at least 5 months.
Reminding that the Gerede project was made to solve Ankara's water problem, Yavaş said, "However, currently there is no water coming from the Gerede Tunnel."
Yavaş emphasized that the water cuts are expected to last for at least 5 months and that citizens should pay attention to water conservation during this period.
