Recently, heavy rain and snowfall in northern Iraq have negatively impacted life.

Intense rainfall has caused floods in some areas, while snow depth has reached up to 1 meter in certain regions, leading to road closures.

Helgurd Sheikh Najib, the head of Erbil Soran Administration, announced that some roads have been completely closed due to heavy snowfall. Additionally, eight shepherds are reported missing, and seven climbers are stranded in the region.

Due to severe weather conditions, schools in Kirkuk, Salahaddin, Duhok, Erbil, and Nineveh provinces have been closed. The Iraqi Meteorological Organization stated that the country is under the influence of the first polar low-pressure wave of the season.

The Pishder District of Sulaymaniyah announced that crossings at the Kili Border Gate have been suspended due to heavy snow accumulation. Meteorology experts predict that the rainy weather will continue until tomorrow, with Wednesday expected to be the coldest day.

In the northern Duhok province, an explosion occurred during snow removal operations, injuring two people. This incident has raised security concerns in the area.
