Aydın Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu has resigned from CHP and joined AKP. Following this transition, she received a financial support of 860 million TL.

In her statement, Çerçioğlu emphasized that Aydın is an earthquake zone and that the city needs to be made more resilient against disasters. She stated that they will accelerate their investments with the provided resources.

Çerçioğlu's sudden membership has sparked reactions among municipal employees. To quell these reactions, a 23% salary increase was announced for municipal staff.

Çerçioğlu's transition to AKP also positively affected her family company Jantsa's shares, which gained significant value after the announcement.
