Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has received a special democracy award from Eurocities. This award honors his commitment to democracy and his determination to defend public will.

Mugla Mayor Ahmet Aras received the award on behalf of İmamoğlu and invited other mayors to Istanbul. İmamoğlu emphasized that the award belongs to the youth demanding freedom and the women marching for equality.

Mayors from across Europe expressed their support for İmamoğlu. Eurocities President Burkhard Jung honored İmamoğlu's unwavering commitment to democratic values.

İmamoğlu condemned the political arrest as an attack on public will and stated that he would continue to fight against this injustice. The European Council condemned İmamoğlu's arrest and announced that it would bring the issue to the agenda.
