China and Europe Relations: Partnership or Rivalry?

China is looking to strengthen its relations with the European Union. However, leaders are cautious about this approach. China's ambassador to Spain, Yao Jing, stated that they want to establish a partnership with Europe.
Criticizing the new trade approach of the US, Yao emphasized that Europe should not cut its own throat. He stated, "China will never be a threat to Europe."
Last week, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez met with President Xi Jinping in Beijing. The purpose of this visit was to establish closer economic relations between Europe and China.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stated that China is the biggest winner of the increasing trade wars between the US and Europe. Kallas remarked, "China is watching from the sidelines with a smile."
Kallas also noted that trade wars could lead to inflation that negatively impacts consumers and emphasized that the EU is ready to respond when necessary. This situation is a significant development for the future of Europe.
